I’ve ate at Bestia a lot over the years. There’s always been a few dishes that I’ve ordered over and over again and have always loved for their consistency and deliciousness. Lobster toast being one of them.
Other times I’ll go for the veal tartar on toast. Always good all the time
For a super light starter you can’t go wrong with their house marinaded olives. Little bits of orange peel give it a nice citrus bite.
Their bone marrow is great. The ones thing about their bone marrow is it’s nice and FAT. Lots of marrow. They always give you a green pasta to mix in with the marrow but this time I enjoyed it without mixing which I recommend.
Oddly enough, I’ve never been a big fan of their pasta. This is their homemade sausage and pasta. The sausage didn’t taste quite right to me and slightly off. The noodles were perfectly cooked but I found the dish overall rather underwhelming and recommend ordering an extra starter are a charcuterie plate, instead.
The lamb neck is a very good value. Very meaty and lots of flavor. The only bad thing about this dish is sometimes it can be quite ‘gamey’ tasting. So it’s hit or miss if you’re more sensitive to those flavors. If you love lamb no matter what I highly recommend this dish.
Squid Salad is one of my favorites at Bestia. Always delicious and very fresh. The quid is very tender, too, and the greens are perfect. Get this when you go
Another favorite I get every time I go. The chicken liver pate. It’s just heavy enough to wet your palate but light enough that you’re still hungry for more food after. The toasts can lean to being too heavy if you want something more substantial. This is a good balance of the two.
Pork and Beans were a seasonal dish that popped up on the menu but where super good. The best beans you could ever ask for. Very savory and not over bacon-y
Bestia’s branzino is their best main course hands down. Better than their pork or steak options. The fish is large enough to feed 2 people especially so if you plan to order a few appetizers before and a dessert. The fish is already completely boned other than the tail and head so you can eat it bone free!
The chocolate tart with olive oil is very good…but I recommend you go for one of their fruit desserts as they are seasonal and always incredibly fresh.
This is their equivalent to a peach cobbler. They use a macaroon shell for the cobbler part and home made whipped cream with seasonal fresh peaches. One of the best desserts I’ve ever gotten from them. If you come at the right time and you see it on the menu I highly recommend you get it.
If you come to Bestia and you’re unsure what to do for dessert you can never go wrong with their coffee ice cream and hand made donuts. Always a crowd pleasure that will satisfy.
wow, that’s a lot of food you had there… over the course of the years… 🙂
I am reading this over my breakfast and morning cuppa…. now all I want to do is cook,,,seeing this post. Louise
